Dr Hossein Abdolnezhad is a Mechanical Engineer specialising in fluid dynamics, interfacial phenomena, and surface engineering. He holds a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering and earned his PhD at Northumbria University Newcastle, studying complex fluid dynamics on slippery liquid-infused surfaces (SLIPS).
During his PhD, he was a visiting researcher at Saarland University, Germany, gaining expertise in microfabrication, photolithography, cleanroom techniques, and experimental diagnostics such as high-speed imaging and image analysis of transient interfacial phenomena.
Before joining ASU-London, he was a Teaching Associate and Senior Research Assistant at Northumbria University and taught at University Campus North Lincolnshire, leading Solid and Fluid Mechanics courses and contributing to core Mechanical Engineering subjects. He has extensive experience in student support, curriculum development, and project-based learning.
His research focuses on interfacial dynamics of complex fluids on advanced surfaces, especially SLIPS, and the behaviour of non-Newtonian fluids. He is also active in STEM outreach and has served as a judge for the WorldSkills UK National Competition in Renewable Energy.
